Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable development goals called and we answered!

The reason for this universal call? To end poverty in all forms by 2030. With South Africa being one of the most impacted countries by multi dimensional poverty. HFA combines creativity, technology and practical know how to contribute to reaching these targets and reaching a balance in social economic and environmental sustainability.

Although there are 17 SDGs, action in one area will affect outcomes in others and with only 5 years left to go it is clear that resources and attention need to be fixed on the prize.

The goals Hugs from Above Foundation sets out to achieve are as follows:

SDG 1 - No poverty

To target the most vulnerable and increase access to basic resources and services.

Currently many people especially women are struggling to secure jobs and maintain their livelihoods. Our Resourced to Empower program aims to address this need.

SDG 4 - Quality Education

To ensure equal access to affordable vocational training which eliminates gender and wealth disparities through our Skilled to Empower program. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are 4x more likely to be out of school due to lack of basic resources, for this our Resourced to Empower program exists.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth

To ensure full and productive employment and sustainable businesses that contribute to economic growth for both men and especially women by 2030. Our S2E program combines skills for productivity, creativity and technological innovation to contribute holistically to the achievement of this goal.

Overall, education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. This is why every HFA program which directly contributes to SDG targets prioritizes education for all. So there you have it! This call was not re routed to voicemail and as we implement on the ground action we act as a proudly South African organization with global impact.
